Sotogrande

Sotogrande is one of the most southerly tourist resorts on the southern Costa del Sol. It is located on the far left-hand side of the Costa del Sol just before Gibraltar after which the Costa del Luz begins, in the province of Cadiz.

The nearest airport is just across the border in Gibraltar and less than fifteen minutes away by car from the resort, while Malaga International Airport which is the busiest airport servicing tourists is approximately an hour away by car.

Sotogrande is a posh upmarket resort with a pretty marina, beaches and golf courses a plenty, five star hotels as well as villas and apartments for weekly rental.

Sotogrande offers the a unique lifestyle which appeals to the international and Spanish jet set. It is famous for the prestigious golf courses such as the famous Valderrama Golf Course and its famous polo fields such as the world-class Santa Maria Polo Club. The area has a privileged location just a 40 minute drive from Marbella and Puerto Banus and 20 minutes from Gibraltar.

Sotogrande Golf, Polo and Other Sports

Sotogrande is famous for its golf courses and polo fields, tennis, paddle, and sailing are also in abundance. Sotogrande can offer golf fanatics two of the best courses in Europe - the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Club de Golf La Canada, La Reserva de Sotogrande, Almenara hotel-golf, the San Roque Club and Alcaidesa links golf course.The beautiful climate makes for perfect golfing conditions pretty much all year round.

Sotogrande is also a paradise for polo lovers. The Santa María Polo Club and the Ayala Polo Club are some of the most established and affluent clubs in Sotogrande. The annual polo event (El Torneo Internacional) held in August at The Santa Maria Polo Club, is also important for tourism as it attracts many rich and famous people from all over the world which of course boosts Sotogrande's reputation.

Also Sotogrande Equestrian Centre is one of the best and well know horse riding schools in Spain and have taught many professionals over the years.

Sotogrande Marina

Sotogrande’s famous marina has beautiful pedestrian pathways filled with trendy boutiques, boating shops, up-market estate agents, restaurants, elegant bars, and even an ice cream parlour. Built in the late 70s, this marina has become iconic on the coast and offers all the facilities one expects when docking a boat. These amenities include electricity, fresh water, telephone line, television cables, and 24 hour security.

To complete the marina there are ample dry-dock facilities and provisions for activities such as jet-skiing. The Puerto Deportivo (Sports Marina) has two paseos running around it; Paseo del Rio and Paseo de Levante. The sailing club is located on the Levante side, along with the information office and post office. The Rio Guadiaro empties into the sea at Sotogrande.
